so the semester is over and I am ready for some real time with my poetry. I am really enjoying my place in life right now, not everything is in order exactly, but at the very least I think I am on the right path. for once I am no longer questioning what I am going to do with my life, rather I am just doing it. [dinner]. at any rate, i am really feeling that poetry is my gig. I’ve got both feet in and I feel that it.s going to work for me.
i have plans this summer, I guess that I want to be able to write often. I’m not going to worry too much about revision, but well, whatever.
what I really want to explore tonight is the subjects that I am interested in. I am hoping to do a self-analysis.
I’m interested in doing a collection on brothers and sisters and fathers and mothers, really a mixed family collection that has to do with step brothers and sister and such. I’d also like to do a collection of letters, but I think I’ve got a lot of work to do there. but I’m really interested in that. I mean it could have all sorts of letter types: physical letters, emails, text messages, any sort of lettering or epistolary-ness that happens in human interaction. I could incorporate the bible epistles as a form (perhaps form sections in the book like the epistles in the bible). I think letters are an important part of human connection and communication. it’s the most simple form of connection. but then I also want to do the memento mori collection with the pictures of the deceased people. I think there is something really human about that. and there’s also the domestic mediations, which I think goes along with my epistolary collection. In fact, I think I’ve got a lot there, maybe even enough for a chapbook. I think I’ll go ahead and organize those into a collection and work on it.
